Terms of Service
Effective October 1, 2026
These terms apply when you use glcoachingsc.com, contact us, or use our coaching services and client portal. Guiding Light Recovery Services LLC, doing business as Guiding Light Coaching ("we", "us"), provides them. If you become a client, you'll also sign a coaching agreement; if the agreement and these terms differ, the agreement wins.
1. What coaching is, and isn't
Coaching is a working conversation about how you operate: your goals, choices, habits and relationships. It is not therapy, counselling, psychotherapy, medical care or treatment, and it isn't legal, financial or other professional advice. It doesn't diagnose or treat any condition. Our coaches may have backgrounds in counselling, but they don't act as clinicians here. If something you bring up needs a clinician, we'll say so and help you find one. You're responsible for your own decisions and results; we can't promise any particular outcome.
2. Not for emergencies
We don't provide crisis services. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). In an emergency, call 911.
3. Who can use our services
You must be 18 or older to become a client on your own. Young people under 18 can be coached only with a parent or guardian's written consent and signature on the coaching agreement.
4. Getting in touch and starting
Sending the contact form, calling or texting doesn't create a coaching relationship or reserve a time. The best time you choose is a preference, not an appointment; we'll do our best to call around then. Coaching starts once you've signed the coaching agreement.
5. Sessions
Sessions are 55 minutes with the same coach, by video, by phone or in person in Santa Cruz County (and at home across the Bay Area where arranged). We schedule sessions with you directly.
6. Prices and payment
- Prices are shown on our pricing page in US dollars and include all mandatory fees. A single session is $130; blocks of four ($495), eight ($935) and twelve ($1,325) are paid up front and used at your own pace.
- Family coaching is $1,800 a month (see section 7).
- Veterans and first responders receive 15% off; we may ask for reasonable proof.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. When you pay your first invoice, the card you use is saved to your account and, as set out in your coaching agreement, you authorise us to charge it for sessions, fees and plans you've agreed to. You can update or remove your card at any time in the portal or by contacting us; if there's no card on file, we'll send an invoice instead.
- If a payment fails, we'll let you know and may pause scheduling until it's resolved.
7. Family coaching: automatic monthly renewal
Family coaching is a monthly plan: $1,800 a month, charged automatically to your card on file each month until you cancel, with a minimum term of three months. Each month includes weekly sessions for the parent and for the young person and a family session every other week. Before your first charge we'll show you the price, the renewal terms and how to cancel, and we'll email you a confirmation. You can cancel online in the client portal, or by emailing info@glcoachingsc.com or calling (510) 770-6169. Cancelling stops future charges. If you cancel before the three-month minimum, the remaining months up to the minimum are still due unless we agree otherwise. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid month, and we'll confirm it in writing.
8. Cancellations, late cancellations and missed sessions
Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or move a session. If you cancel with less notice or miss a session, the full session fee applies: we'll use a session from your block if you have one, otherwise charge your card on file or send an invoice.
9. Packages and refunds
Unused sessions in a block don't expire. If you stop coaching, you can ask for a refund of the unused sessions; we'll refund what you paid minus the sessions you used at the single-session price ($130 each). Single sessions already held aren't refundable.
10. Your portal account
Keep your sign-in details private and let us know if you think someone else has used your account. You're responsible for activity under your account.
11. Emails and texts
We'll send service messages about your sessions, documents and payments. If you agree to texts, the texting terms in our Privacy Policy apply (reply STOP to stop, HELP for help).
12. Our content
The website, worksheets and materials we share belong to us or are used with permission. You can use them for your own personal coaching. Please don't copy, resell or publish them.
13. Using the website properly
Don't misuse the site or portal: no attempts to break in, overload it, scrape it, or use it to send spam or unlawful content.
14. Other services
Payments, email, video calls and similar services are provided by third parties under their own terms. We're not responsible for their services.
15. Disclaimers
Our website and portal are provided "as is". We work to keep them accurate and available but can't promise they'll always be error-free or uninterrupted.
16. Limit on our liability
To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law.
17. Disagreements
If something goes wrong, please contact us first. We'll try to sort it out within 30 days. If we can't, either of us may bring a claim in small claims court or in the courts of Santa Cruz County, California. California law applies.
18. Changes
We may update these terms; we'll update the effective date and tell current clients about significant changes. Changes don't affect agreements already signed.
